The UNESCO Chair for the Promotion of Sustainable Energy System and Clean Environment established at Sungkyunkwan University with the scope of UNESCO's Renewable and Alternative Energies Programme is aimed at promoting the development of new technologies and paradigms around energy and environment with a view of supporting member state ot achieve SDGs.

By contributing to the ESG, we can help tackle the most pressing global challenges facing humanity and the world.

In 2022, Sungkyunkwan University launched an intercollegiae ESG committee to oversee and enact campus ESG policies. Various ESG-rellated courses such as ESG Managment, Technology, Society & Sustainability and Climate Change have been provided to enhance the understanding and collaboration of all members, and in 2023, the university was selected as the first UNESCO Chair in the engineering field in South Korea.
