Our Sustainabie Research

Center for Sustainable Development

Sustainability Research Center was established as an accredited university research center to fulfill the university's social responsibilities and establish and implement a campus-wide carbon-neutral strategy. The Research Center established carbon neutral strategy roadmap for the University's carbon neutrality declaration. The center is responsible for building a platform that measures energy consumption and carbon emissions for buildings across the campus in real-time. The center operates research groups related to sustainable environment and carbon neutrality, develops curriculum, holds academic events, and building sustainable network with alumni and local community.

Carbon Neutral Energy Welfare Research Center

Rapid climate change due to global warming is giving us harsh disasters that we can't even anticipate. The climate change problem is demanding many changes in politics, economy, and even our lives around the world. 2050 carbon neutrality is being discussed as the only way to solve global warming, and not only Korea but all countries around the world are actively participating. Our center has formed an expert network (25 industry/academic/research experts) by various functions and regions required for carbon neutrality, and is carrying out various cooperative activities for carbon neutrality diffusion research and professional talent cultivation. Sungkyunkwan University's Carbon Neutral Energy Welfare Research Center will continue to support and strive to become a leading institution in the global carbon reduction industry.

Sustainable ICT Future Talents Education Research Center

『Sustainable ICT Future Talents Education Research Group』 is devoted to the vision of “nurturing future talents in sustainable ICT” leading the continuation of happiness in human society, the continuation of success and growth of engineers, and the continuation of innovation in engineering education.

* Education of international, professional, enterprising, and ethical ICT talents who pursue social shared values

* Research that creates core values for the future with original and challenging research

* Internationalization through fostering global ICT talent and securing international research leadership

* Social contribution through the creation of shared value with cutting-edge ICT technology.

Convergence Research Center for Energy and Environmental Science

The Energy and Environment Convergence Kiwoori Research Center was selected as a project implemented by the Ministry of Science and ICT to provide leading R&D experiences related to high-tech industries to Ph.D. This research center focuses on energy and environment-related industries, including eco-friendly healthcare, and 17 new researchers with doctoral degrees are actively conducting joint research with related companies. 18 mentor professors act as facilitators, not advisors, so that emerging high-level talents can conduct research independently, and provide researchers with an environment where they can focus on their research stably for up to three years. Currently, 15 companies, including Kyungdong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Olix Co., Ltd., are participating. In particular, a human network that facilitates collaborative research between companies and researchers and a platform that can utilize the infrastructure built in universities are being built.

Research Institute for Clean Energy

The Clean Energy ICT Research Center was established with the goal of being a leading research center for student success by cultivating young researchers and industry-oriented talents in the clean energy field, systematic development of original and applied technologies, integration of education and research, and convergence of core technologies in the clean energy field.

Center for Zero Emission Technology

This center intends to present three business support models for fostering the emission-free environmental facility industry and creating demand in the future. Our center supports the technology development infrastructure of companies that have difficulties with independent laboratories and equipment by operating laboratories and equipment for the development of zero-emission environmental facilities so that companies can freely use them. As a technology demonstration support project, we provide technical and economic support for demonstration plant production and operation optimization for the demonstration of promising technologies developed by companies. In addition, as a support project for companies that emit pollutants, we support various technologies to diagnose existing treatment processes and promote zero-emission upgrades.

SKKU-KIST Carbon-Neutral Research Center
